OCASG ONLINE: Exploring Romantic Relationships

The purpose of this talk is to discuss dating, sexuality, and romantic relationships among autistic teens and adults. We will review the existing limited research on dating and sexuality among autistic teens and adults, identify potential benefits and challenges of dating for autistic teens and adults, and discuss tips and strategies related to dating and romantic relationships.

About the Speaker
Dr. Lindsey Sterling is a licensed Psychologist specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related developmental disorders. She has extensive experience performing comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for youth and adults with suspected ASD and treating symptoms and other conditions associated with ASD, such as anxiety and depression. She also works with individuals who may not have ASD, but seek support for social challenges, stress, and mood. She provides comprehensive, expert, and compassionate care to entire families, by offering supportive psychotherapy for siblings and parents of individuals with autism spectrum disorders as well.

She has been on the faculty at UCLA, Claremont McKenna College, and CSULB, conducted NIH-funded research, directed an autism center at an academic institution, and published widely in the field of ASD.  She has been working in the field of ASD for almost 20 years, and is passionate about helping teens/young adults who are dealing with anxiety, mood, life transitions, and other challenges.
