OCASG ONLINE – PEERS for Careers
March 29, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Join us and speaker Dr. Reina Factor for a presentation on UCLA College to Career: PEERS® for Careers Program. This program seeks to support young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as they transition into the workforce! All of our young adults have some college education, ranging from community college through graduating at the university level, and they have career interests and goals varying from basic manual activities and clerical tasks to complex technical work, such as mechanical engineering, video editing, writing, and graphic design.
The UCLA College to Career program is a 20-week training course that teaches employment-related social skills (e.g., building a resume, interviewing skills, navigating workplace communication and relationships, stress management, prioritization of work tasks, etc.) to highly skilled young adults with ASD and then pairs them with community internships in a 10-week internship (can be paid or unpaid and can certainly last longer or transition into longer-term employment opportunities).
